The University of Michigan BioInnovations in Brain Cancer Program (BIBC) is currently soliciting applications for tenure track faculty positions at any level. We welcome applications from outstanding scientists with expertise in any areas pertaining to translational or basic brain cancer biology research and/or development of cutting-edge technological approaches for treatment.

The Sunitha Nagrath lab reports on their work to capture natural killer cells and harvest exosomes to investigate their potential for battling cancer cells.

Under this license and collaboration agreement, EVOQ and Amgen will work on discovery and development of drugs for autoimmune disorders.

Congratulations to Anna Schwendeman on being named the William I. Higuchi Collegiate Professor of Pharmacy!

Researchers from the University of Michigan and the University of Maryland were awarded a $5 million grant to establish a new Center for Research on Complex Generics. BI Faculty Professor Anna Schwendeman will be the center co-director along with Professor James Polli from the University of Maryland.

The center is funded by the FDA Office of Generic Drugs and aims at bringing complex generic drugs and drug products to market faster.

BI faculty members were part of three new startup companies launched in FY20.

Study by Deepak Nagrath and Sunitha Nagrath Labs propose new strategy to target pancreatic cancer

Congratulations to James Moon who received a pilot grant from Michigan Drug Discovery to continue his ongoing work to develop immunotherapy agents for the treatment of cancer.

Congratulations to Deepak Nagrath on being named one of the Rogel Cancer Center’s 2020 Forbes Scholars.  Nagrath is using genetic and clinical data from patients to identify mutations in ovarian cancer cells.

BI researchers are using their expertise to combat COVID-19 on multiple fronts.

EVOQ Therapeutics, an Ann Arbor-based startup focused on developing cancer immutherapies, has won the grand prize at the tenth Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition. The company is based on technology developed by BI faculty members, James Moon and Anna Schwendeman.

The paper entitled “Engineered Fibrillar Fibronectin Networks as Three‐Dimensional Tissue Scaffolds” appears in Advanced Materials. The work was done in collaboration with BI faculty members Gary Luker and Max Wicha.
